LETTERS FROM BINGLI DURING THE BUSHFIRES - 2019/2020
Bingli Xie is a Chinese woman I met at the Berry Christmas Parade a couple of weeks before Christmas. Gerald and I took our neighbours two children, Harvey and Halle, to see Santa, and we were dressed very festively. A group of Chinese tourists asked to take our photos – dozens! – and we obliged, I also took photos of them, and we promised to email them to each other. We did, and then the bushfires intensified, and the nature of our communication changed. I get an email from her every two or three days, with an offer to go and live with them if necessary, and return to our home when ‘things are safe’. She included a photo of their heating when she learned how much I dread the cold! I think this is an amazing story of connection across cultures and countries, and that she is an incredibly generous woman.
Dear Sandra
How is your situation there? I'm very worried about your safety! Every day, I pray for you with my sincere love, let the fire go out quickly, and protect the safety of Australian people! I love you! I hope you are safe, far away from all unsafe places, and return to normal life as soon as possible!
Love and hugs

Dear Sandra
I learned in the Internet news that the sky in Australia has rained, and the rainfall is relatively large, which is very helpful to control the fire, so you can get rid of the danger, and I'm happy for you! OK, I will continue to follow the news of Australia, pray for the Australian people, and wish you happiness!
Love and hugs !

Dear Sandra
I'm very happy to know that your lovely dog is safe to go home, because I like dogs very much, and I regard them as children. The day we met was too short. The guide urged us to return to the team, so I didn't hug your lovely little dog. I'm sorry. My family also has a lovely dog. Its name is "Danjia". It's very cute. Before I went to Australia, I prepared a lot of food for it. I steamed three pots of nutritious steamed bread for it. When I came back, it jumped at me happily and hugged and kissed me! I'm sending you some Danjia's picture of it now. I hope you like it. OK, I will continue to pray for the Australian people and wish them a safe and happy life!
